5 Signs Your Plumbing Might Need a Little TLC

As a homeowner, it’s really important to watch out for any signs of plumbing troubles to avoid any expensive fixes or hassles later on. Letting plumbing issues slide can cause water damage, mold, and even mess with your home’s structure.1. Low Water Pressure So, here are 5 common signs to look out for that might mean your plumbing needs a little TLC:

1.Low Water Pressure

Have you noticed the water doesn’t come out as strongly when you turn on your taps or shower? This drop in water pressure might be hinting at a few plumbing issues, like clogged pipes, a buildup of minerals, or even leaks. If it’s just happening in one spot, it’s probably a small issue, but if it’s happening all over your house, you might be looking at a bigger plumbing problem. It’s best not to overlook low water pressure, as it can cause more damage down the line if you don’t deal with it.

2. Slow Draining Sinks or Bathtubs

Are your sinks or bathtubs taking forever to drain? This could mean there’s a blockage in your pipes, maybe from hair, soap scum, or bits of food. Often, you can sort out small clogs with a plunger or drain snake, but if it keeps happening, it might be a sign of a bigger blockage deeper in your plumbing. Catching this early can help you avoid any messy backups or water damage at home.

3. Unpleasant Odors

Have you caught a whiff of something not quite right coming from your drains or plumbing fixtures? That yucky sewage smell could be a sign of a plumbing issue. It might be something like a damaged sewer line, a dried-out P-trap, or just some gunk built up in your drains. Ignoring these smells isn’t the best idea, as it could lead to health risks and more plumbing troubles. It’s really important to get them checked out soon.

4. Water Stains or Discoloration

Noticed any water stains on your walls, ceilings, or maybe some discoloration on your floors or carpets? These could be telltale signs of water leaks in your plumbing. Sometimes, leaks hide in pipes behind walls or under floors, making them tricky to spot without a little help from the pros. If ignored, water leaks can lead to structural damage, mold, and the breakdown of building materials. So, if you spot any water stains or discoloration around your home, it’s important to get to the bottom of it and fix any leaks as soon as possible.

5. Noisy Pipes

Hearing any bangs, rattles, or whistles from your plumbing? These sounds might just be telling you something’s up – maybe loose fittings, that notorious water hammer, or perhaps high water pressure. It’s pretty normal for plumbing to make some noise, but if it’s more like a constant concert in your pipes, it might be hinting at a bigger issue that shouldn’t be ignored. Letting noisy pipes be could lead to some real damage, so it’s key to figure out what’s causing the ruckus. Keeping an eye out for these five plumbing red flags can save you a lot of hassle and prevent those repair bills from stacking up. Tackling plumbing issues early means keeping your home safe from water mischief, your plumbing in top shape, and ensuring your family’s comfort and safety.

This company is AMAZING. They came out to repair our furnace, and unfortunately found a critical safety issue which required immediate same day replacement. The tech explained the issue simply and in a way that I could understand. They were also extremely gracious about working…

Couldn’t of asked for a better experience working with Taylor and the whole team at Thelen Mechanical. We were in a emergency situation and they went above and beyond to get our new furnace installed the very next day. Would 100% recommend them.

What plumbing services do you offer?

Our crew tackles kitchen and bathroom fixture installation, general plumbing fixture repair, pipe installation + repair, and water heater installation + repair.

Do you offer financing?

HVAC and plumbing issues never happen at convenient times, do they? We offer financing with both Synchrony Bank and Service Finance with convenient monthly payment options.

Isn’t my filtered pitcher doing enough to help my water?

Actually, no. Pitchers and faucet-mounted filters use activated carbon to filter water. While it does remove some contaminants, it mostly improves the taste, since it’s not in contact with the carbon long enough to make much of a difference.

Why should I install a water softener?

If you notice a build-up of minerals on pipes and fixtures, spots on your glassware, and poor appliance life, it might be a sign that you have hard water. A water softener can help with these issues.
